Featured post by Sam Plateroti of Dijy

As a nonprofit, your website is your main source to share what you’re all about, get new supporters and raise online donations to continue to do what you do.

This is why it is so important to consistently enhance your site to make it easy to navigate, but also easy to donate!

In this post, we’ll discuss a few ways you can enhance your site to boost your fundraising efforts.

Website Navigation

Your website is your most important tool for raising donations. It’s the first thing your supporters see and it needs to leave a good impression.

Nothing is more frustrating than getting to any website, but having a hard finding your way around. Here are a few suggestions to help:

    1. Use a responsive design that allows your site to look good on phones, tablets, and computers. Responsive designs will adjust itself making it easy to get info.
    2. Keep your menu simple and link it back to the main page. This way, people can get to where they need easily.

Donation CTA & Form

A CTA is a “call to action” designed to prompt people to ‘do something.’ An example of this would be to have a “Donate Now” button on the top of your site. This will compel people to click and donate.

A quick tip: Make sure your CTA button stands out! You don’t want it to blend in, but you do want it to be consistent with your brand. Do not just add one to your navigation menu, you want to have different CTAs throughout your site.

But where should your CTA take donors? A donation form.

Your form should be quick and simple to input and collect information. The easier, the better. Think of when you’re shopping online, you want to make it as easy as possible to submit their info and payment. This is also important to make mobile friendly!

Showcase Impact

You can increase donations by showing your supporters how their money is making an impact! Showcase a detailed list of achievements that highlights what you’ve put to work with previous donations. Proudly display accomplishments on your site, share costs, and explain why these projects were so meaningful! This is another great place to put a CTA button and encourage people to donate.
